Double Bass

Welcome to the McGavock Orchestra Parents Association... where music matters!

Our McGavock Orchestra Parents Association (MOPA) sponsors scholarships for private lessons and buys sheet music. MOPA also repairs, purchases, and maintains instruments for our students and gives every member the opportunity to travel and perform as an orchestra and to recognize each member for his or her musical talents and efforts. We hope students, family, and friends will join MOPA. In addition, we encourage everyone to help organize the 37th Annual Christmas Craft Fair in support of our students and this very special program. The Craft Fair will be held at McGavock High School on Saturday, November 4, 2017,  9:00am - 4:00pm.

The McGavock High School Orchestra has two classes of Orchestra students in grades 9-12. We combine classes for concert performances, and small groups may perform in the community for special occasions. Our Orchestra has a long history of successful performances and exciting musical events. The McGavock Orchestra Winter Concert is a great time for all of the string students in the McGavock Cluster. Our Spring Concert features music for a full orchestra as we invite members of the McGavock Wind Ensemble to join us.

MOPA sponsors trips to selected Nashville Symphony dress rehearsals where our students are sometimes privileged to meet the guest soloists. McGavock Orchestra students also participate in the Mid-State and All-State Orchestras, MTSBOA Solo and Ensemble, the MNPS Senior High Honors Orchestra, the Governor's School of the Arts, the APSU Honors Orchestra, and the MTSU Honors Orchestra.

Thank you for your continued support!
